Trailhead

On Highway 9, 1 mile south of Alma, turn west onto Mosquito Gulch Road. Drive 6.8 miles to a point where the road turns left and crosses Mosquito Creek before climbing up toward Mosquito Pass. There's parking 0.1 mile after the left turn.

Route Description

This route can be approached from either peak's TH, but this description assumes you are going from Tweto to Arkansas then back.

Reach the summit of Tweto via Southwest Ridge route  1. From here, you get a good view of what's to come  2.

Descend Tweto's Northwest Ridge  3 to saddle between Tweto and Arkansas. This section contains large, somewhat loose talus, so care should be taken.

Ascend Arkansas's South ridge from the saddle to a false summit  4. This section contains somewhat better talus, but several short bursts of loose scree. From the false summit you get a good view of where you came from  5 and where you're going  6.

Continue following the ridge to the summit of Arkansas.

During the return to Tweto, it may be tempting to skirt the false summit ridge so you don't have to regain some elevation. This is not recommended, as you encounter lots of steep, loose talus and scree.

Optional: If you don't mind traversing less than ideal talus and scree, you can skip regaining Tweto (or gaining it in the first place). From the saddle between Arkansas and Tweto (or approximately 13,300 feet on Tweto's Southwest Ridge), you can skirt Tweto to the west, doing your best to not gain or lose too much elevation  7  8.

Notes

This route can be combined with the Kuss, Mosquito, Treasurevault Loop. 12 miles = Round-trip distance if you include London Mountain. 4,400' = Total elevation gain if you include London Mountain.

What's nice about this option is you can quit early after Treasurevault or Tweto since the exit route is between the two.

In theory, you could also consider adding Buckskin and Loveland, though your exit options are regain Tweto, stage a vehicle at Kite Lake, or descend a steep scree gully off Loveland.
