Trailhead

From Denver, drive southwest on US-285 towards Pine Junction. 4.0 miles after Pine Junction turn right at a stop light and onto County Road 43A. It's approx. 8.8 miles to the trailhead: Drive 0.3 mile and merge onto Country Road 43 for the remainder. After 6.7 miles keep left at a Y junction. The road turns to dirt at 7.8 miles. Pass the Deer Creek Campground near 8.0 miles and continue 0.8 further to reach the trailhead.

Route Description

Start the hike by the sign  1 at the west end of the parking lot. A wilderness permit is required to hike in this area, please fill out the permit and keep it with you while hiking. Follow the trail to the first junction  2 Stay right on the Rosalie/Tanglewood Trail. Continue up the trail and you will come to another junction with the Rosalie Trail, again stay right on the Tanglewood Trail. Soon you'll reach tree line where there is a grove of bristlecone pines just below the saddle of Rosalie and Pegmatite Points.  3 Rosalie will be to the West (Left side)  4 and Pegmatite Points will be to the East (Right side)  5 once you gain the saddle. Leave the trail and continue west up the gentle east ridge of Rosalie.  6

From the summit of Rosalie, continue North to "Epaulie".  7 There are a few good scrambles up to the summit.

Once on top of "Epaulie", Epaulet Mountain can be seen to the North in front of Mount Bierstadt and Mount Blue Sky.  8 Continue North to Epaulet Mountain. Once on Epaulet Mountain there are great views of Bierstadt and Blue Sky.  9
