Trailhead

From Lake City, drive about 2 miles south on Colorado 149 and turn right on County Road 30, toward Cinnamon Pass. From the start of the 30 road, it's nearly 16 miles to the trailhead. Stay right near 11.8 miles. After 12.5 miles the road becomes more rough, and between 13 and 14.5 miles it's a shelf road that hugs the south side of Sunshine Peak. Reach the trailhead before 16 miles.

Route Description

From the Silver Creek trailhead parking area, follow the trail northeast up a hill and into the forest. Near 11,100', leave the trees and continue on the trail as it parallels Silver Creek on your right -  1. Continue northeast along Silver Creek ( 2) to 12,200', where the terrain opens up and the trail curves to the south -  3 and  4. Follow the trail to the end of the basin and ascend a slope ( 5) to reach the 13,000-foot saddle between Redcloud and Point 13,561' -  6.

Taken from 14er Redcloud Peak,  7 shows the remaining route. With Unnamed 13,832' in view to the east, begin hiking east up a ridge toward some unnamed points -  8. At a small saddle just prior to Point 13,561', avoid the top of this point by hike east across its talus-covered south side -  9 and  10. Near 13,400', reach another saddle and follow a trail southeast below another point ( 11 and  12) to reach the upper west slopes of Unnamed 13,832' -  13. Continue a bit farther on the trail and turn left to gain the summit -  14 and  15.

On top of 13,822', you're nearly 5 miles into your hike and 13,811' is roughly 1.5 miles away. To continue to 13,811', drop southeast from 13,832' ( 16) and descend to the saddle between 13,832' and Point 13,632' -  17. You can go over this point but it's easier to walk southeast and swing east around the point. Once you're on the east side of this point ( 18), drop to the saddle between Point 13,632' and Unnamed 13,811' -  19. Hike northeast along the ridge to reach the summit of 13,811' -  20,  21 and  22.
