 quick la plata report
Did La Plata today. Way less snow right now than The Decalibron. Towards the top, it's possible to either ascend the snow or ascend the rocks next to the snow. Great glissading on the way down! I didn't bring my ice ax, but was still able to get some good glissading in.

I made the stupid mistake of climbing the wrong peak at first (the smaller one to the west), and when I got to the top, feeling exalted, looked over to see I wasn't the highest thing around. Looking on the bright side: got to climb two peaks!

Which trailhead did you start from? Which one would you recommend?

i did the standard route (nw ridge). i wouldn‘t bother doing the winter route (north ridge). i‘ve heard ellingwood ridge is doable now. the routes on the south are probably pretty good right now too. any of those routes (nw ridge, ellingwood, south route) would be good to go, i think.
