 Sherman- Four mile creek approach
Adam and I drove from Breck at 315am and parked on the four mile creek road around 11,400 at 415am. After a quick breakfast and battery check for our headlamps, we started up the road at 430am. Even though the moon was out, it was dark and we needed our headlamps for most of the morning.

There were small patches of snow along the trail and some new trail finding was needed up to the mine below the Sherman-Sheridan saddle.

The snow was quite hard this early in the morning although a few times we sunk up to our waists. Above the Hilltop mine, things got interesting because the saddle still had lots of snow.

We stayed to the right of the snow, hopping from snow to steep talus and back up to a point above the saddle near 13,400.

Upon reaching the saddle, the wind was blowing around 40 mph but the route finding became easier as there was solid snow or a good trail on most of the ridge. The wind kept blowing, a couple times well above 50 mph, and we got to the top right before 7am. A can of dale's each, a snack, and we headed back to the saddle.

The glissading from the saddle was great, steep and fast. We saw quite a few people having some serious fun post-holing around 9am and several cars full of people getting ready to ski right at the gate.

This picture shows the ridge near 13,900.

The next picture shows me on the summit holidng the registry. If you can see how large my pants are, the wind is blowing a steady 40-50 mph, making me look like the michelin man.
