 Skiing the South Side
I think just about every skier that has climbed a peak to the South of La Plata has noticed something. A big cool line. Then they've probably wondered, "Where is that?" Then they might even realize that they're looking at La Plata, just the side that no one ever goes up or down. Here's the view from Belford a few years ago:

We've been wanting to ski this line ever since, and this year we finally went ahead and skied it. The better half even had to summit La Plata 3 times in a week just to get it done. The line did not disappoint- it's very aesthetic and the basin that you descend into is one of the more interesting spots in the otherwise sometimes bland Sawatch range. A full report can be found here.

Frank, a couple of years ago GeoJed posted a photo of that line and it’s been in my spreadsheet since. I’m so happy someone finally went in there and skied that thing. It looked great!

Ha! My spreadsheet mostly contains routes I need to re–visit or add to 14ers.com but, yes, I might also have a few future ski lines in there. My brain is mush and I have to write things down or I’ll forget and just go do Quandary again.

I found GeoJed’s photo that made me add your ski line to my list.

I was just thinking about La Plata’s south side this morning.
