 Birthday on the summit
Click here for full trip report

Today was my brothers birthday so he wanted to celebrate with a 14er. We chose the southwest ridge of La Plata. We'd both done the mountain but never from this route. I think this is one of the most scenic 14er routes I've ever been on. Absolutely gorgeous.

I should also add that the beavers in the valley have been very active so you may find yourself needing to clear the road to get through. They're also working to flood the Missouri Gulch trailhead and are close to succeeding.

& Happy B-day Jason!
Was up there this summer and know the views are amazing. Looks like you're pretty good with the camera. Do you have any more pix?

Hope to get on La Plata someday ... Also hoping to help my brother with a wish to be on a mountain before his (60th) birthday. Being from WI we would love the beaver activity (as long as its not one of our trails they are flooding!) Greatly enjoyed your TR with my morning cup of coffee.
