Info: Cottonwood Pass is closed, but 306 is open to the trailhead with only a thin layer of snow/ice in parts that any car should be able to manage. The road past the trailhead is normally closed to cars and used for snowmobiling, but this was actually still open (though not needed).

Info: Road is open to the TH, but no farther. Hard packed snow and some ice on the road, but any vehicle should be able to get to Denny Creek TH no problem.

Info: Clear road to the TH. The gate is closed halfway across the road as mentioned. One sign says Road Closed. Another says No Snow Removal on Gunnison County Side of Pass. Another says Pass Closed Hunter Access Only. I drove to the Cottonwood Pass summit (12,126 ft) which has a combination of dry roads and drifted areas. The majority of the road is in snow some of it pretty deep. A deep drift immediately on the other side of the pass summit seems to be stopping people from going any further.

Info: Road is clear and dry even past the closure gates (which are just beyond the trailhead to the west), as is the parking lot. The pass is officially closed for the season but the closure gates are still half open, if for some reason you wanted to go further, though it‘s "at your own risk" since the state has officially closed the pass for the season, and I have no idea at which point you hit snow/ice.

Info: Trail is clear to tree line. Even when you go past the treeline up to the top the snow is spotty in some areas. The creek crossings were also very passable. The snow is melting fast!

Info: Dry asphalt all the way there. Also, FYI...there is a snow machine blocking County Road 306 another 0.9 miles up from Denny Creek TH pull out, so you have to turn around through those parking lots that you‘ll find at that point. Beyond the snow machine, the asphalt looks dry, so maybe it would be fun to hop the barrier with your bicycle and check it out while the weather is like summer.

Info: Plowed and clear to trailhead with some stretches of packed snow. BV was forecasted to get 3-6 inches today, but that hasn‘t happened yet. Same forecast for tomorrow (2014-12-26) last I looked, so it‘s possible things could get a little more nasty in the next few days.
