I believe 2 wheel drive vehicles could make it up. Be carefull leaving though as the road is muddy with the melting snow. Now snow drifts to drive through anymore. | ||||
6/8/2008 Posted On: 6/8/2008 By: Kzar Info: Trailhead is mostly clear of snow all the way to the locked gate just below Dauntless Mine. There is some minor snow close to the gate but I believe a passenger car can make it. I had a 4Runner and made a track through 12 inches of snow on the uphill side. If you are not comfortable going to the gate, there is parking less than 1/2 mile from the gate that is snow free. At least as of this afternoon. | ||||
6/1/2008 Posted On: 6/1/2008 By: Scanner Info: 4WD vehicles can make it all the way to the summer trailhead now, only a couple short snowdrifts remaining; they are easily crossable if you‘ve got clearance, and they should melt fairly soon for everyone else. 2WD vehicles are still parking right at the base of the Leavick Mine. No snow remaining on the road at all until that point. | ||||

I would estimate Memorial day weekend for access to Leavick and beyond, unless the county plows. 2wd cars should have no problems getting to current closure. |
