A group of us attempted to hike Huron Peak 4/23/11. Chaffee 390 from US 24 is driveable to roughly 9.8 miles with a good clearance 4WD vehicle. At that mileage there is a large snow drift that got us stuck for a good hour. From that point it was just under 2 miles to Winfield and another 2.1 from there to the 4WD trailhead. There is still a lot of snow and as we found out snow shoes were a must. We did post hole some however with out snow shoes it would have been way worse.
