5/25/2019 Route: Rosalie Group Posted On: 5/26/2019, By: rleclair Info: Road to Tanglewood Creek TH is clear/dry after this week's winter storm. In the morning, trail was snow covered from the parking lot all the way to the Rosalie Peak summit. Lower section before Wilderness Boundary is melting fast though (no snowshoes required now). Broke trail from Wilderness Boundary to tree line. Snow all the way to the Rosalie/Pegmatite saddle and beyond. Summit has some snow but easy to navigate. Great views of snow covered Mt. Evans/Mt. Bierstadt. |

5/17/2019 Route: Rosalie Group Posted On: 5/17/2019, By: WildWanderer Info: The first two miles in are dry, and then snow until treeline. Lots of postholing, even at 4am, but hopefully the lower temperatures this weekend will fix this problem. The trail is easy to navigate in the daylight, more difficult when it's dark, but if you just follow the creek you should be fine. From the willows to treeline snowshoes were needed both in the morning and on my trek back down. The summit is dry. |

5/12/2019 Route: Deer Creek TH & Tanglewood Tr Posted On: 5/12/2019, By: RWinters Info: Road is clear and passable for 2wd. First mile of trail is mainly clear of snow. I used flotation above 10,400 as there is still plenty of snow. Ridge is crusted and snowshoes we're helpful all the way to the summit. Micro spikes helpful early as well. |

3/23/2019 Route: Tanglewood creek/bowl Posted On: 3/25/2019, By: eskermo Info: TH is still accessible by AWD/4WD with some clearance, but a little spicy in sections. Frozen in the AM, slush in the PM. No summit and didn't ski the bowl - turned around at 12,200'. But I did get a decent look at the line and it appears to be IN from the summit! We kept skins on up to the ridge and at that point booting was more efficient. Snow coverage for skiing was great until the last mile and a half or so, where some creative skiing and a little poling is needed to stay clipped in. |

12/16/2018 Route: Rosalie Group Posted On: 12/16/2018, By: dwoodward13 Info: A stellar bluebird day on Rosalie. Very well packed trail up to treeline. Some may want spikes for a few of the ice flows over the trail, but I pretty easily bypassed them rock hopping. I lost the trail after treeline, but not really an issue, just head for the saddle. Mix of 3-6" snow and bare grass here. From the saddle to the summit a similar mix continues. Pretty easy to stay mostly on bare ground if you wanted from saddle to summit. I brought spikes but never used them, but some may want them. Snowshoes are wayyy overkill until the next storm comes in. Route is in fantastic condition go get it! |

3/3/2018 Route: East Ridge Posted On: 3/5/2018, By: dolfh Info: 4 wheel drive can make it to the Deer Creek TH. The Tanglewood Trail is icy in some spots. Snowshoes may be helpful around timberline. Snowfields near the summit can be avoided. |

2/18/2018 Route: Rosalie Group Posted On: 2/18/2018, By: wondering_hough Info: Snowshoes aren't currently needed. There are multiple paths through the upper forest but all lead to the correct exit at treeline. Turned around at 13k due to wind. It was warm today, you can filter water up to 11k feet |

11/26/2017 Route: Rosalie Group Posted On: 11/29/2017, By: romegirl28 Info: Road in was fine, ice in some spots but fine for 2WD. There were 3 other cars in the lot when I got there, but I never saw another soul. Some icy patches on Tanglewood, very little snow up top. Snow patches were easy to skirt. |

6/18/2017 Route: Posted On: 6/19/2017, By: dhaucke Info: No issues on Deer Creek Rd. Parked at the trailhead and took Tanglewood Trail up to Rosalie Peak. Tanglewood was in good shape. Usual spring runoff meant some sections were wet. Mud not much of a factor. We opted to scramble lower sections of Pegmatite Points, rather than traverse the snow field at the top of the trail. The East Ridge up to Rosalie went without much difficulty. We hit four different snow fields, none more than 40-50 feet in length. Snow was soft and stable enough that we crossed just fine. Minimal post-holing, almost no slippage. We just wore our trail runners (no traction) and a few of us had trekking poles. |

6/3/2017 Route: Posted On: 6/4/2017, By: JeffR Info: Mostly bare up to the switchbacks, then the drifts made route-finding through that area a bit sporty (may be less so for someone familiar with the trail). From treeline to saddle was about 25% snow, then 25-50% on ridge proper up to summit. |

2/5/2017 Route: Posted On: 2/6/2017, By: rambis_21 Info: Started at the Tanglewood Trailhead at the end of deer creek road. The last half mile or so is snowpacked and drivable with any mid-sized car. Careful to go slow and stay in packed tire tracks. Hike is packed out all the way to treeline and hard snow from the willows up to the east ridge or Rosalie. Snowshoes only necessary at the willows just above treeline. If it warms up more, it will be mushy conditions for sure and would need snowshoes. Summit was blisteringly cold (-2 windchill) but the sun was warm! And once we got back to the trees is was beautiful. |

6/18/2016 Route: Posted On: 6/21/2016, By: courtleighallen Info: Left at 8:30am, parking lot was decently full, but didn't see as many people on the trail. 2:45 up to the saddle, with only a patch or two of snow to pass over, but it was packed down and no need for any gear other than your typical summer set up. Another 2 hours to the summit (man, that last push is way farther and steeper than it looks!). Hung out for 30 mins at the top and 3:30 to get back down. Such a great 13er near town, and nice to avoid the masses of most nearby 14ers. |

6/16/2016 Route: From Mt. Evans Road Posted On: 6/16/2016, By: xcrunner365 Info: There is little snow left on this ridgeline and what is left is very easy to avoid. I brought poles and microspikes, but I used neither. Summer conditions for these three. |

6/11/2016 Route: Posted On: 6/12/2016, By: JeffR Info: Trail completely clear (and seemingly less swampy than usual for late spring) below treeline, save for a few downed trees and snowdrifts. From treeline to saddle, there are random snowfields obliterating the switchbacking trail in places - I just beelined for the saddle after losing it several times. From saddle to summit is mostly clear, but with more random snowfields (some of which are avoidable). |
