Info: Wonderful day on the trail. Was able to drive almost to the top of the road.
The road to the upper TH I was very glad I had a lifted 4Runner with AT tires, however saw quite a few stock pickups higher up. After timberline the road gets much easier, a few of the hairpin turns needed a 2 point turn.
Small amount of weather on the way down, but nothing bad.
Wonderful trip all around.

Info: Second everything that trkl9 said. This trail is better than walking the road. The trail is great the whole way, it is scenic, there are hardly any people (no cars), and the distances are similar. Plenty of dispersed camping right by Browns Creek Trailhead.

Info: Full summer conditions. Some snow along the creek drainage but not in your immediate path. I don't know why more people don't summit this route, it is an excellent trail and fun approach. Trip report to follow.

Info: Summer conditions.

To the couple with three unleashed dogs -> Your trail etiquette is absolute trash. You should be ashamed. My leashed dog does not want your dogs noses in his butt. And you just stood there with a dumb look on your face when I tried to shoo your dogs away. Like I was doing something wrong. F U. I would of told you all of this to your face if i wasn't with my step son.

Info: My quest for 14'ers continues, and today I checked off Mt. Antero. We camped on road 277 the night before near a bigger river crossing. 4WD is necessary on this road, but we didn't encounter any snow, and very few other vehicles. After waking up, we drove a little higher to about the tree line and started our hike from there. The conditions were great, however the forecast had snow in the afternoon. We made it to the end of the road at 13,800 and saw little snow on the sides of the road, but nothing blocking the drive should you want to drive that high.

Standing at the upper parking area, we noticed a big snowfield on the south-west'ish side of the summit that looked like the trail should cross it, but we found no reason too, and just headed straight up the ridge. We summited around 9:55am and only stayed for a few minutes as clouds were fast approaching. As far as we can tell, we were the only three making a summit bid today. I certainly hope no one tried to go up later as the snow rolled in when we got to the truck around noon. The views are fantastic!...as they always are ;) Go, hike this mountain.

Info: Not so crowded. Walked from County Road 162, 2wd trailhead. Baldwin Gulch Road looks rough right from the beginning (for a Subaru) so I didn't take my chances. Very pretty road walk with the creek flowing right near you. Great disperses camping as well along that road. Was so very delighted by this hike, popping out of the trees 🌲 getting amazing views! Started at 5:30, didn't have the sun on me in full blaze until easily 8:15, certainly the way I'd recommend it. Before the turnoff to Little Browns Creek, I saw 2 mtn goats, has been a very long time since I saw one. Last 400 feet was more difficult than I had anticipated. There were a few patches of snow and another hiked thought that was maybe what was making it harder. Scramble to the top with kit exposure. Will always remember that one!

Info: Excellent summer-like conditions. The stream crossings up the 4WD trailhead road are low volume. For reference, we were able to make it to ~11,600 ft up the 4WD road with a Colorado and a 2in front lift, no issues. The trail itself is excellent and only one or two snow patches approx. 50 ft wide and were easily avoided. Extremely windy today. Although in the mid-50's, the cutting wind made it feel chilly. The summit is in good shape... but I couldn't find the USGS medallion. Just a handful of people climbing today.

Info: Full summer conditions through tree line. First creek crossing is running high, expect to get wet. Lingering snowfield at upper 4WD switchback (pictured). Easily passible without traction, but until melted out this is the farthest vehicles would be able to go. The ridge is holding snow as well in spots, but all can be passed around or passed through.

Info: Route is almost totally dry. No water down low in the creek but large remaining snowfields around treeline keep it flowing up high. THIS IS THE WAY TO DO ANTERO. Unless you can drive to treeline on the other route, and bee line it past all the road switchbacks, the other route is just awful in comparison, and not shorter anyway.

Info: 99% dry for hiking. Maybe 20 total feet of snow to walk over. Creeks are flowing good so be careful crossing. Not too bad in general. Basically a marathon of a mountain at 15 miles, but a mellow, gradual climb. Even the final ridge looks far more menacing than it actually is.

Road clear until 11,800, then there's banks covering the left side of the road. Used the gullies between the switchback portion to quickly get down as the quickest forming thunderstorm I've ever seen chased us off as we were heading down. (it was bluebird on the peak)

Camped at the lower trailhead. A bunch of stock crossovers tried to get on the Jeep road and were turned around. Maybe 9+ inches will do it to the creek crossing.

Info: Two friends and I hiked Antero on Saturday, March 23rd. After checking some trail cams in the area, we determined that the snow would not be a major issue. I was surprised to find out that it was almost entirely gone from the route. We lucked out with weather too -- wind was the worst between about 12,500 and 13,900 feet, and then was almost nonexistent on the summit.

My watch clocked about 16 miles round trip from the trailhead on 162 to the summit and back down. The first ~6.5 miles up are fairly easy going -- nice, broad trails, though rocky and with some vehicle traffic. They're not too steep though. It gets a bit tougher and steeper in the last 1.5 miles before the summit, and footing is important on a ridgeline as you approach the final summit block, but again very manageable. Goes without saying, but absolutely breathtaking views.

Info: Hiked Antero from the Jeep road. Started just past the creek crossing at about 11,000. The road is clear of snow and can be driven to around 11,800. After that there is consistent snow banks that make driving impossible at this time. As for hiking, you can completely bypass all snow on the way to the summit. Windy day today and no thunderstorms.
