I’ve noticed a lot of posts lately from people looking for hiking partners to avoid tackling the mountains solo. It can feel pretty wild to meet someone for the very first time at a trailhead and then spend a full day together without knowing if you’ll connect, or worse, finding yourself in a stressful or even dangerous situation with a complete stranger.
At many of my events, people often share stories about difficult days in the mountains. Sometimes their partners end up not having the same pace. One pushed too hard, they struggled to keep up, got left behind, or their personalities simply clashed. Experiences like that can take away from the joy of being out there.
That is why I love the events our community creates. They give you a chance to break the ice, talk about the peaks you want to summit, and get to know each other before heading into the backcountry together. It makes a real difference in both safety and enjoyment.
Here are a few upcoming events I am aware of. If you can make it out, I highly recommend going. It is the best way to find the right partners and step into the mountains feeling more prepared and connected. Best of luck out there!
