2023 14er Speed Record Attempt
Well,
It's about that time to run through the 14ers again, but this time in the Summer.
I secured a reservation for Culebra, woohoo! Thanks to a good friend who happened to have this date booked..
On top of Culebra, I received news from John, the landowner of Decalibron that there is now an official waiver to hike the Decalibron. So it is again open to the public as of last Thursday.
I will be taking the train into Chicago Basin July 13th, camping, and starting my attempt July 14th around 4:30am. Assuming I make the train on time I will be racing the clock to sweep the San Juan's and making the drive to the Culebra gate within the first 50 hours of the project. If all goes well up to this point, the show will begin.
I have no idea what the weather will do, I'm not a big fan of hiking in lightning storms, so we will see how it goes!
All I know is that I am incredibly stoked to step up to the plate to give this Speed Record Attempt my best.
My time goal is to push close to 9 days if not less than 9. A lot of stuff has to go right to make that happen.
Andrew Hamilton holds the current record at 9d21h51m (as I'm sure more everyone here knows)
You can track my Garmin here: https://share.garmin.com/EYYHG
I (or someone else) will be posting daily updates on my instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/chrisjfish/
I will be uploading my outings to Strava here: https://www.strava.com/athletes/30830521
As well as trying to update the forum.
That's all I got for now.
Cheers.

Honest (non-snark) question. How does Lindsey's status fit into this? Is it back open? Or do folks just generally disregard the closure? I'm assuming you aren't skipping it.Chrisfish25 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 10:11 pm Well,
