They have their own set of rules for what constitutes being worthy of being listed on their site as a route for FKT attempts - no point in having an FKT for the quickest time around my block (Strava segments can cover that). Their rules do not govern what constitutes a 14er/13er/etc finisher (sorry Supra).
The 14er record rules were laid down in detail by Cave Dog when he set the previous record in 2000. They basically say "follow the Colorado 3000 foot rule" and "climb as many peaks as the previous record holder", along with "announce your intentions in advance". I don't see anything about private property; the Culebra situation in particular keeps changing with different owners. http://www.thedogteam.com/14ers-Web_Pag ... Rules.html

I was wondering if anyone would mention cave dog. Seems his rules for 14er speed recording should transcend those set forth by FKT. He’s the OG.

Chris, whether you succeed or fail at this, and I’ve done both haha, this will be one of the greatest adventures of your life! Good luck, go get that record!
I’ve seen his plan, and i think it’s rock solid, and it’s a very elegant line through the peaks.
One big factor is luck, and so far luck is on his side with an unheard of July that has had virtually no storms. So he has stumbled upon an amazing year to go for this record. I still remember Eric’s attempt where he practically had to swim to Blanca, that was ridiculous.
Does anyone know what the Garmin tracking points with a star inside the circle mean? There's one at 2:51 on the way to El Diente. Just wondering if it's a particular button or message, curious as I have an inreach myself

For something like this, he should probably have those turned off, but it is a locate ping. If somebody clicks the locate button, it will try to find his location and immediately send it out.

Ah I see now, yeah those could add up over the course of this effort if he has the basic subscription plan!

at ~ 1 day in Chris is running a little less than 2 hours ahead of Hamilton's 2015 FKT. Comparison's will be easy for the first 2 days but, depending on Chris's order, might be more difficult after that.

Just a note on distance and elevation: I'm using trail tracks from caltopo maps where they are available and it looks like Chris is following the trail. Where Chris is off trail, I'm connecting Chris's 10 minute interval pings. For this portion of his track, my distances and elevation gains will be understated relative to his actual foot distance and gain/loss.
