I really enjoyed the various rankings on this post. I have completed 49 of the Centennials so look forward to getting half way finished this summer. Not sure yet which one will be #50.

Why not make number 50 Half Peak?
The Dalai Lama when asked what surprised him most about humanity:
“Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

The most interesting (and baffling) thing about the responses here are the different ratings and degrees of difficulty associated to the 14ers and Centennials, in comparison with my own personal experiences.

I've only done a handful of non-14 Centennials (Ice, North Apostle, Adams, Meeker, Red, Emerald, Horseshoe, Phoenix, Jones, 13832, 13811 and Holy Cross Ridge) and made attempts on several more, and my experiences were much different than those depicted by others on this thread. My recommendation is to use their observations as a general "guide" - your own personal experience on each of these peaks may vary greatly. A day on the peaks is going to be influenced by weather, terrain conditions, the route you choose, your level of experience, your partners, how much sleep you got, what you ate and drank that week, and your general emotional state.

In other words, peaks in your future may be much easier - or more difficult - than advertised.

It took me 10 years to climb the 14ers. I've been climbing the Centennial 13ers for more than 20 years and still haven't finished. :cussing:

Based on that, I would say the Centennial 13ers are more than twice as hard as the 14ers.... :-"

I'm very motivated by the fact that while I haven't done most of the hardest mentioned in this thread, I did tag Pyramid, which some even claim as the hardest, and felt like a kid in a candy store the whole time, never phased just loving it 100%. Maybe 2012 is the season I turn it up a notch or two (safely of course...)

Bring on the early start to 14er season! Hopefully I can use the crampons at least once or twice this year. Thanks for some good responses in this thread.

I've got 15 centennials remaining - a few coming up at the end of this month - and I am very optimistic to have them done within 2 years. Especially PKellys take on some of the remaining peaks I have to climb.

Centennials are a blast! They are less traveled, very serene, and are just as great as 14ers, if not better.

Huh? :?
I have 53 left and will finish them by July 4th this year. I know it's ambitious but it's my goal. I'm determined to finish 8)

If you are ever looking to tackle some of the harder ones in the San Juans in June, feel free to let me know.

Wow, that is quite the bold statement. Not saying you can't or won't do it, but usually best to boast about something AFTER you actually do it, IMO.

Best just not to boast at all.

Well look who updated their 14er list...

And I'll boast...and when I finish I'll boast more!

Honestly though, this is one of my two MAJOR 2012 goals that I am very determined to be successful with.

EDIT:
Damn! Brian you beat me to it!
