Many of you said that you wanted Erin to state publicly that she did an ABC FKT. For what it's worth, I agree with that sentiment. And to be fair, probably based on those statements, she admitted it was ABC and apologized for the confusion she caused. Maybe she didn't use the exact words I would have, but the message was there.

So, time to move on now?

If no, maybe the motive was not just getting her to say it was ABC, and was instead something else entirely.

We want folks who pursue these things to be humble, graceful, virtuous, etc. But if we want those things of others, we should also be willing to treat others with some grace, too. I think it was right to ask Erin to be honest about what she did. Now that she did that, continuing to pile on seems...gratuitous.

Hey I don’t just do a 14er then go to town and get a burger and beer.

I go to town and get a PIZZA and beer.

They track times of all kinds of accomplishments around the globe. It's not just one or two records in CO. More prevalent are CT times than 14er times. There are multiple records for the Colorado 14ers. But, CO 14ers are not high on their list. Erin already holds 3 14er records in the female division. Andrew Hamilton holds 13 in the men's category. ABC has always been a thing in CO. It's been a PIA since before you were born. Culebra is quirky. Both because of when and if you can climb together with the check-in/check-out requirement. From the research I've done since I became aware of Erin, I have utmost respect for her as a gifted athlete. Never met her, but impressed with her accomplishments at such a young age. If her postings rub you the wrong way, get over it. She'll blow past you on the mountain. BTW: I expect FKT to recognize Erin's latest accomplishment.

I don't know what her story is re: Culebra, but I just wanted to give Culebra some love. It is one of my best 14er experiences, if only for the uniqueness of it. I paid for it and would pay again. In fact, I will, when I hit the 13ers on the ranch property.

highheeledhiker wrote: Wed Aug 02, 2023 9:08 am Woahhh just logged onto this toxic site. First off, I am being fully transparent about what I did. I am not trying to draw any undue attention to culebra. I had the unique opportunity to be the first woman to go after a self-supported effort and set a precedent. I made a very intentional decision not to do Culebra, even though I was presented with the gate codes. If I trespass, y’all are unhappy. If I don’t trespass, y’all are unhappy. I was also informed that Carlos was checking the back of cars during my effort to make sure I was not in them. Honestly pretty ridiculous. As I’ve said many times before, the crux of an FKT should not be about who gets access. I wanted to go after this record anyways and that is what I did. I plan on explaining my thoughts on Culebra once I get the chance to rest and recover. And I will be very transparent with the FKT organization, which is the only entity that matters NOT the 14ers.com audience.
Erin, saw your Instagram post (copied on p. 8 of this thread for anyone who hasn't seen it). Thanks for clarifying your "ABC" self-supported FKT attempt and congratulations on a great accomplishment. Most of the people on this site are not toxic, and would love to see/hear more about your 14+-day effort. Congratulations on a job well done!

She is still claiming a record she didn’t achieve on her instagram. Do you think she deserves a free pass?

She edited her Strava to delete her contemptuous comments on regular hikers (you can still see it here: https://ibb.co/Ch0zc84) why won’t she edit her instagram to rescind her false record claim?

To me, a free pass would have been never having this discussion in the first place. I dunno about you, but this thread feels far from a free pass to me.

Anyway, she made an Instagram story saying it was ABC. I get that the story itself is temporary, but nothing is really ever temporary on the internet - this thread has a copy of it. I trust the good folks at fastestknowntime.com to get it right, and if they don't, there's plenty of people who will point out their mistake.

Not sure if much else can be achieved at this point in time.

Well, the Summit Daily did mention she climbed the 14ers without Culebra…

And an article in Trail Runner Magazine

To avoid this thread going bananas, I've left it locked and will add links as necessary since they provide good info about Erin's ABC completion.
