Yeah, it's an app that is typically used for fishing and hunting. It's called onX. Doubles up great for general hiking and backpacking. But since it is for hunting and fishing, it may not be as robust as one would want for moutaineering, but that may be personal. You can save areas for offline use on your phone and since your GPS location stays enabled on your phone while in airplane mode or without service, you always know where exactly you are, which is really nice - property lines are much more important when you're trying to use firearms to kill things.

I'm not as familiar with other mapping apps and I'm sure there are plenty that do the same. But for hunting and fishing I'm not aware of anything better.

Edit: so i'll just add that, yeah, this is all just county and local government data compiled into a very user friendly app and online system (along with a lot of hunting and fishing specific data), which is why i think it's worth it. it should be pretty accurate, especially the boundaries, tax names and addresses could be outdated by a year or so at times.

The info I heard while I was up there on Thursday/Friday was that the Forrest Service tore it down and that the 4x4 Club was going to remove the debris.

If you look at the Creeprs Jeepers Event Calendar for this weekend you will see Mt Blanca on there that states the same info: http://www.creeperjeepers.com/events/

RIP hut, here's a pic of Bill Middlebrook uploading pics to 14ers.com while at the hut before a ski of Blanca.

A pic of a depressed team after spending 3 nights at the hut where we did not see the sun and it rained/snowed/sleeted all weekend long and we got nothing done.

I doubt they would have torn it down if it remained an old mine shack but recently some people took it upon themselves to make improvements. The Feds won’t allow that

I was up there August 8th-9th to camp at Como and summit Blanca with some buddies. Here's a picture of what's left of the hut:

We were also there when a rescue chopper and 4x4 came in to look for someone who fell on the way back down from Little Bear.
