I think I said this in the other thread, but I think every 13er finisher should get to name one currently unnamed 13er of their choice upon finishing the list, no naming after themselves. I think if anyone has earned the right to pick a single name, that's it.

No matter what other classification scheme we come up with based on physical properties, it'll always be prone to being changed by finer measurement.
The problem is that since peak bagging is all on your own honor, theres nothing to stop people who've "climbed" all the 13ers from getting a permanent mountain naming honor. Imagine Lyingfish getting to name something. Ugh.

Theres nothing wrong with the current method IMHO.

As one of the more recent finishers, I call shotgun on this idea.

13,838 shall hereby and forevermore be named Mount Wiener Balls Peak. Amen.

=D>
There definitely needs to be a committee for oversight on naming....

I don't have ambitions to finish the 13er list, but I like the idea of finishers getting to name a peak.
Seems more intimate if you will, that someone who actually hiked or climbed a peak, name it, rather than how some get names by people or for people that probably never set foot on a trail.
The surveyors of yesterday deserved the right to name peaks though.

UN 13,838 is the highest unnamed mountain in Colorado. It is also a relatively easy and quick hike.

The verb “to waltz" means "to walk somewhere quickly and confidently”.

Also, the waltz is a ballroom and folk dance of Austrian origin.

In his lifetime, Johann Strauss II was known as "The Waltz King”.

Vienna, the city of waltzes has been famous for its legendary balls. Each year more than 450 balls take place in Vienna.
The melodies of the waltz king Johann Strauss II have shaped the Viennese ball scene like no other.

Vienna is the English name for the capital of Austria, while Wien is the German name for the city.
Essentially, Wiener refers to the city of Vienna.

Thus, UN 13,838 should clearly be named Mount Wiener Balls Peak. Very logical.

If I ever finish the 13ers, I'm going to name one Grizzly. Seems like such a great idea for a mountain name, you know?

In my magnanimity I let Gerry and Jennifer Roach keep those two for themselves.
