Women's 14er FKT Claim

Post by Sixtyeights »

To no one’s surprise, Erin is now claiming to hold the new FKT record despite having not completed all the 14ers.

I guess when she said she’d be “forthright” about skipping Culebra, she was lying. Shocker!

But social media is eating it up, which I guess is what’s most important.

Well considering she's blocking people on Instagram who question her (including me) it will definitely look 100% percent positive. All I did was ask if she actually did Culebra or skipped it.

Always good to curate your feed to make sure your narrative is intact.

Seems to me she climbed it and doesn’t want to advertise it explicitly. Unlikely that she would falsely claim the 14er FKT.

Congrats to her! Debatably the most impressive 14er run to date, and I do not think the drama around Culebra should overshadow her accomplishment.

The fact that Erin is blocking everyone asking about Culebra is clear as day to me that she didn’t summit the peak. This is an incredibly immoral and unethical breach of transparency. It was a great time she set, but not being forthright about her Culebra skip is unfortunately par for the course based on her track record.

I highly respect Erin as an athlete but her disgusting comments in this forum and dishonesty about FKTs is nothing but childish. Adding Culebra would certainly have put her above the time she was trying to beat but I’m not surprised she’s been banned from the property after the vulgar comments she made about Carlos the first time she got caught. In all but fantasyland the skipping of a peak will disqualify a FKT.

Hope she can grow up.

There's no record of Erin summiting Culebra according to the Strava. Records for other 57 peaks, including Lindsey and Decalibron, are publicly available.

The Garmin tracks also don't have it. So by the available info this is an ABC record and not a full 14er FKT.

Nowhere in the info on social media did she bother to mention that fact. You can't claim a record you didn't set.

What an impressive achievement from Erin!! 57 peaks in less than 14 days and 1/2 is amazing by any, any standard!

How do labels as "immoral" and "unethical" find their way in this characterization is just astounding!

Congratulations Erin!!!

This is not okay. Have you all read her post? Mentioning Danelle Balangee! We all know who she is! She is putting her in There when this record has nothing to do with Danelle! Why? To claim she beat that time too? We all know she couldn’t have added Culebra with an already 14d 10 h record time and then beat those times. This is all for social media, you’re right I guess that’s most important … not integrity and honesty

I just don’t understand why this chaos was even necessary. Erin could have just been honest about this from the start. Her time was still a spectacular achievement. She would have received all the same love and adoration. But because of the deception it’s turning into total chaos.
