You should see his rig. Jacked up van that looks like it can handle anything. He has a microwave in reach of the drivers seat so he can eat on the go, and has a dirt bike and mountain bike on the back, along with a nice sleeping area in the van.
first off, i'd love a virtual tour of the van. how big is it (wheelbase), how long have you had it, did you build it out yourself, what kind of suspension system was installed to accommodate 37s, any engine mods, and obviously- what kind of tire are you running?

Looks like that's where he's headed. Pretty interesting strategy.
Dirt bike to end 4wd road
Walk down Browns Creek trail to ~11,200'
Turn around and ascend Tab/Shav
Drop north from Tab/Shav saddle
Pass dirt bike on road
Walk down Browns Creek trail to ~11,200'
Get on Dirt bike and return to Beast
Hike up/down Antero
Head to Elbert/Massive
#2 i really need to know how you thought this up. this is a brilliant strategy for these peaks and i'm dying to hear more about it! have you always been a dirtbiker, or was this a side-hobby you picked up for the effort? what kind of bike do you have?
keep on keeping on! you're doing amazing out there!!

As an add-on to this, I found it really interesting that Antero was done from the same dirt bike spot as Shav/Tab versus what glenmiz spelled out (return to van after Shav/Tab, hit Antero via the standard road or some variant). Seems like it was probably pretty neutral on time/mileage/elevation but I was still fascinated as it unfolded.
1:49 to summit Democrat. This man is goin'!
From what I figure to be ~2mi/1000' down the road from the trailhead no less!

It actually has an advantage that he didn't have to fully descend 3000' from Tabeguache and reascend 3000' to Antero. It was pretty close anyway, but by linking these 3 mountains, he shaved a little time off.

Thanks for keeping track of all the numbers!

No worries. Since I've done this a few times and have previous splits and routes, it's kinda cool to make comparisons.
When Dan started, his pace was, roughly, 80% of Andrew's 2015 FKT on equivalent routes. After 13 days out, he's now running, generally, a little faster than Andrew's 2015 pace. I think he's got an excellent chance of being under 15 days and a chance of being in the mid-14's which was his stated goal.
Hope a few of you will be able to be there at the 3000' mark on Longs to see him finish.
Please (someone) post photos of his finish if you are able to make it!

When will it be?
Glen can give a projected time, but it definitely will be tomorrow, Tuesday, July 19.
Looks like he is on his way to Grays/Torreys now, then all that's left is Bierstadt, Evans, and Longs.

My estimate now is around 5:30pm tomorrow at 3000' mark on Longs coming down. I'm assuming he gets about 4 hours sleep tonight after tagging Grays and Torreys. That would put him at 14.67 days. Milestones in between for reference:
Finish G&T and back in van at 10:30pm tonight
Finish Bierstadt and Evans and back in van at 10:20am tomorrow
Start at Longs TH 1:30pm tomorrow
He might go to Guanella now and that wouldn't change things much. We'll know in about 5 minutes.
I am planning to go tomorrow and hike to 3000' mark on Longs to meet Dan at the finish. If anyone else is going, I'll leave the parking lot about 2hrs before I expect him at 3000' mark and expect it to take about an hour to get there from the parking lot. I'll update my estimated finish time after G&T and when he heads toward Longs. If anyone needs a ride, I'll be coming from Golden tomorrow so send a PM.
Looks like decent weather for G&T tonight, and then Bierstadt/Evans/Longs all have decent weather tomorrow too. Fingers crossed he keeps chugging along! These last two weeks have flown by watching his progress.
