In all seriousness, I believe from a human performance perspective, Andrew’s pursuit both mentally and physically is at a higher level than any of the athletes competing at the Olympics this summer. Although not an apples to apples comparison, I truly believe we are witnessing an amazing feat of achievement.
Andrew, stay safe and keep inspiring all of us to dream what is possible. We all are following along and may the wind always be at your back.

Andrew, I am so proud of you! This, and your other records are an amazing achievement. Who would have thought that the 8 year old who came careening down the Crestone Peak couloir would have become the mountaineer that you are today? My hat is off to you.

Re: 2021 Centennials Speed Record Attempt
Pretty impressive week!
Notes:
Times are based on Andrew's Delorme
On foot distances and elevation gains/losses are estimated by duplicating his track in Caltopo
Driving distances based on Google Maps
Transition times are tacked on the end of the last peak in each traverse
Start time: 6:36am 6/27 Days end at 6:36am
Peaks are counted in the day the summit was reached (that is why Teakettle doesn't quite make Day 7 with a 6:42am summit time)

Re: 2021 Centennials Speed Record Attempt
Hey guys. So teakettle went well, we made actually pretty good timing, but unfortunately Andrew starting off this morning in rough shape. We started around 420, Andrew had a full belly - he had two huge egg Croissants- with all the things, but if anyone knows teakettle- this mountain is pretty rotten. We love the top and can hang there all day, but the ascent was really hard on all his tendons. That’s not the only battle this morning, we struggled hard to keep his swelling down yesterday, as his “rest day” we only did Grizzly, and his body thought he was finished. So we rushed around to find all the meds to keep his breathing in check.
The descent of teakettle was dare I say fun. The moisture the past week, allowed the terrain to become soft and we descended in a smooth gliding fashion
Coming up after Sneffels and Dallas, he will either hit the Wilson group (most likely not and will do that in the morning (2 am ish) or I will hike Vermillion with him if he is not making time and hurting. I’m thinking that will be the plan.
Oh, one more thing- 20 days is out the window. He has been behind all his splits so the centennials aren’t happening in 20 let alone under 20 days, so if he actually survives this - it will be fun to speculate how long it will take him
Okay I think that’s it for now

Well, since the record is over 30 days, he could rest for a week and still beat it at this pace. This has been fun to watch!

Aim high to end high works a lot better than the alternative when it comes to achievements large or small.
Andrew's target is so much higher than our mortal targets that, as long as he is safe and healthy, we'll all be inspired.

You’re always so encouraging!! I Wanted to tell you at Maroon Bells, I was talking to a Forrest Service older man, who remembered you from your biking record. He was telling me all about you, and “that you had a beard” and he forgot your name. I was like, oh yes I know who you speak of - he still thinks so highly of you!

Re: 2021 Centennials Speed Record Attempt
Looking at the spreadsheet, he's at 130 miles on foot at this point? Will there be more mileage per peak in the Sawatch and Front Range than the Elks and San Juans?
This got me pondering:
What's going to be longer: Hamilton's total mileage on foot for this Centennial Run or the total mileage of Colorado Trail?

Re: 2021 Centennials Speed Record Attempt
Hard to say; 14ers FKT was 285 miles on foot. Looking at Elks, Andrew was 41 miles on foot for Cents and 31 for 14ers. For the rest, I'm not sure that ratio will hold as I know he has a long on foot plan for the Weminuche.

Vermillion was hard for Andrew! Glad I can be there for him through at least some hard nights on the peaks…
He was super tired headed up El Diente this morning, he claims that five hour energy was a dud! He’s hurting! But he wants to keep going!
Update: Andrew last minute decided to bring a rope for Dallas, and he didn’t regret it for one second! Glad he did.
