I think we're at 12 reported now? There are a couple more who prefer to fly under the radar, two that I've heard of.
Give or take. Popularity increase obviously calls for a DYBM:
1- Mereness, 1991/1992 season
2 - Bock, 1996/1997 season
3 - Ralston, 2004/2005 season
4 - Gladbach, 2010/2011 season
5 - S Meiser, 2013/2014 season
6 - Silvestro, 2015/2016 season
7 - Sunwall, 2015/2016 season
8 - D Meiser, 2015/2016 season
9 - Heiderer, 2016/2017 season
10 - Yaich, 2016/2017 season
11 - Gorrell, 2016/2017 season
12 - Prater, 2017/2018 season
13 - Seeber, 2017/2018 season

Oops, good catch. My info is for any amount of time. Yes, nobody has done them all in one single winter. Last year Will came closest and got 51, I think.ezabielski wrote:"In a calendar winter" ? Jeff Heiderer finished last year, and I don't think it was a secret so it is at least 13. Two more possibly: one in 2012 and another in 2017.Monster5 wrote:I think we're at 12 reported now? There are a couple more who prefer to fly under the radar, two that I've heard of.

But I think Joe Winters snuck in there somewhere (definitely old school)

Ah I knew I was forgetting somebody. Wait I know of a "secret" finisher in '16/'17 which might be the same you're talking about. The other you told me about via Homie. Abe claims to meet at least four old school secret finishers every time he goes to Indian Creek.

How's that military vet skier fare? Some might have been skied outside calendar winter, but he's got to be up there.

Re: Winter 2018 14ers attempt
Huh? The arc of this conversation is always the same. Somebody mentions Ralston, usually claiming he did something he didn't which is dumb because what he did was pretty amazing. Eventually a skier, (Davenport, typically) is mentioned as having done them all on skis. There's generally surprise about how few people have done this, and how few Dav did in actual winter. Then all is forgotten and repeated next winter. Soon enough though, there's going to be untold quantities of people to have done it. The amount of finishers is quickly becoming difficult/impossible to be certain about, even for a guy that's pretty interested in the topic. That leads to another, perhaps even more predictable conversation.TallGrass wrote:How's that military vet skier fare? Some might have been skied outside calendar winter, but he's got to be up there.

Can you superimpose warming of the earth trends with this graph?dannyg23 wrote:Here's a super nerdy graph of qty of finishers by year:
Ya, like whether or not Indian creek 5.10 all #2's, no foot features or overhang is really just a 5.8 as you see in other crags around the country.dannyg23 wrote:That leads to another, perhaps even more predictable conversation.

And continuing that mathematical progression (assuming continued warm weather)... ...all 7.4 billion people on earth will have completed the Frozen 14ers by 2040.dannyg23 wrote:Here's a super nerdy graph of qty of finishers by year:

And you thought the 14ers were crowded in summer.
