 A quick hike!
I had a fun hike on Mount Bierstadt last Thursday. Just a four hour roundtrip hike along with a four hour roundtrip drive to get there and back. My full trip report can be found here:

How do you figure 5800 feet of elevation if you started from Guanella Pass?

I guess that can be confusing. But I figure it was about 2900 ft up and 2900 feet down. Going down is just as taxing as going up for me. Give or take a few hundred feet. :D

everyone should be able to use their own rules. looks like a good day on bierstadt! it can be frustrating when you get to the top and can't see anything. still fun though.

Looks like you had a nice trip with minimal company for such a popular mountain. The busy season is definitely dieing down.

I suppose I'll start from here on out just counting the vertical feet up. Less confusion and plus I shouldn't have to lie to make friends.
