This is my first report and my creative writing skills do lack a bit.
In January my oldest son told me he wanted to start climbing mountains. So I quit smoking and we started at the end of January with three failed attempts at James Peak. In April we made it to the top of Kingston and in May we did Fox. On Father's Day we hiked Pikes via the Crags trail and loved it! I had to hike Sherman by myself because he refused to wake up early.
Sunday Bryson and I woke up at 3am, by 3:45 we were on the road. We got to the East Ridge trail head at 5:45am and started up it. The weather could not have been more perfect! We took our time resting and eating all the way up. By 10am we were looking over the ranges from the top. It was tougher than I anticipated going up, but the trip down was a killer on the knees and ankles. It probably doesnt help carrying an extra 20 around the waist. Next weekend we are going to try Bierstadt or Grays and Torreys.
