 Success on Grays
How's it going everyone, Ive been reading some amazing trip reports lately and it got me itching to finally finish off Grays Peak.

My 1st attempt was not finished because of lack of preparation (Water & Food) and the time second time I found my self in terrible weather conditions so I decided to turn back 1.5 miles into the trip.

Anyhow today with the company of my good friend Jesse we were able to bag this bad boy in what for me is record time... 7:01 hrs
hehehehe

The Road to the TH was doable in 4WD and chains in the rear tires. We started crossing the bridge exactly at 7:50 am. This was Jesse's first 14er ever. He was worried he would not be able to keep up I was very suprised how well he did.

Decided to stop and refuel right before we started climbing.

I guess its true what they say.... Just look down and plow thru because when I least expected we were at the summit.

As I've been doing in my last summits I waved my Guatemalan Flag

and Jesse busted out his Captn Morgan Stand

...to both of you. You bageed your peak (in winter no less!) and may have created a 14er partner at the same time.

And in winter no less. Congratulations.

I got one of those big REI Mountain Axes from a friend who stopped climbing a decade ago. You're the only other person I've seen carry one. It‘s a heavy axe.

Looks like a good day in the mountains!! :D
Winter climbs are always slower than summer climbs, no shame there.
Congrats on the summit!

Happy to hear of your persistence on this peak. Better to know of lack of preparation and make good decisions in order to return another day like you did. Nice to see your summit pics and see your satisfaction.
