 1st 14er by 11 year old - Bad TJ!
This is my 1st trip report, but really it will be my 11 year old son‘s 1st trip report about his 1st 14er!
Here is his write-up:

"My 1st 14er was Mt Elbert!
When I started I thought it was going to be really hard.
In the middle it was pretty easy.
We passed 12 people, but only 1 passed us.
The end I saw the coolest sight I have ever seen.
My dad slowed me down but I had a lot of fun.
We stayed at the top for 1 hour.
On our way back down we went fairly slow.
We saw people jog down.
I wanted to, but my Dad couldn‘t.
I wasn‘t very tired.
I almost took the Colorado trail."

Pretty simple huh?
He‘s right - He probably could have shaved off a bunch of time if I wasn‘t there being his anchor and slowing him down.
We took the NE Ridge route.
His last sentence is referring to the turn at the very end when you head either to the parking lot, or straight on the CT to the road. We had a short discussion on landmarks, knowing where you are, remembering turns, etc. He decided it wasn‘t so bad that I was with him, or he may have gotten lost!
We had a great couple of days - we camped at one of the dispersed campsites within 1/2 mile of the trailhead, and decided ours was the best.
Spent a couple hours at Mt Princeton Hot Springs the next day.

Congrats to you both on your summit!

I also can‘t help but say ”Go Demons!” I graduated from GHS as did 4 other generations of my family.

Sounds like you both had a fantastic day.
