There isn't a ton of info on these peaks, so for those searching for beta, I thought I should post these up.

Last Saturday, Rob and I headed towards a peak that I had been eyeing all winter, mistakingly believing it to be Precarious. This turned out to be UN 13260:

We climbed the couloir that splits the two summits. The E one is higher, but the W one was a lot more aesthetic for our skiing purposes, so we ascended it instead. Pretty good skiing...

From there, we ascended UN 13043', which is often referred to in the Crested Butte area as Avery. From my house, this would be the twin summits shown here:

This made for a really cool loop which started near Rustler's gulch and ended in Copper creek. Here's the TR: http://www.14erskiers.com/franksblog/2009/05/where-the-peaks-have-no-names-5909/

3 days later, another friend of mine, Josh, and I headed out towards Precarious. Rustler's gulch goes on and on, but we were rewarded with challenging climbing and some sloppy skiing. Precarious:

Josh had previously climbed Precarious in the summer, and remarked that it was a lot easier and more enjoyable as a snow climb. The few reports I have seen on this peak, which make it out to be a nasty and loose chosspile, bear this observation out. great stuff! refreshing to see something non-14er related. Looks like a ton of fantastic lines right near crested butte.

Great report continued on your site.

I like this quote:
”The worst part about exploring new places is that there is always something good around the corner that you have to go back for. Unlike skiing the fourteeners, skiing intriguing lines is a game that can never be won.”

How true.
