Lenawee TH Traverse to Loveland Pass TH

Overview: Sharing this slightly altered traverse of the Loveland Pass 13ers. It starts at Lenawee TH and heads to Loveland Pass TH (which both have vehicle parking but are half an hour drive apart). This route could be done in reverse.

Totals: 9.9 mi, 5700' elevation gain, 4000' elevation loss.

Detailed Descriptions: The route to Lenawee is detailed here. There are several descriptions of the traverse such as this.

Note on GPX Route's Traverse: The ridge traverse starts becoming more technical after SW Lenawee and ends between Black and Grizzly. I stayed ridge proper and class 3 except I (unnecessarily) added class 4 just south of Black Mtn. and avoided class 4ish downclimbs just north of Lenawee and north of Black Mtn. I may have handled these few sections differently if traversing north to south because it was hard to judge downclimbs from the top.

Segment/Split Mileage Elevation Gain Elevation Loss Comment
Lenawee TH to "Southwest Lenawee" 3.3 mi 2800' 0'
"Southwest Lenawee" to "Little Lenawee Peak" (12er) to "Southwest Lenawee" 0.9 mi 800' 800' I was unaware of this peak and did not do it. There is a waypoint for it and the other peaks in the .gpx file.
"Southwest Lenawee" to Lenawee Mountain 0.5 mi 200' 200'
Lenawee Mountain to "Black Mountain" 0.8 mi 550' 350'
"Black Mountain" to Grizzly Peak D 0.5 mi 100' 0'
Grizzly Peak D to "Cupid" 1.1 mi 550' 800' "Cupid" can be bypassed by staying on the main trail, but it does not save on mileage or elevation.
"Cupid" to Saddle Above Loveland Pass 0.9 mi 200' 400' Could skip regaining the saddle if descending
Saddle to Mount Sniktau to Saddle 1.8 mi 600' 600' Could skip Sniktau to descend directly to Loveland Pass
Saddle to Loveland Pass 0.9 mi 0' 900'
Total (Not Including Adding "Little Lenawee Peak") 9.9 mi 5700' 4000' Discrepancy between splits/total due to different mapping software. The total is more accurate.
