Mount of the Holy Cross from the Colorado Trail

For the past few years, I've had far too much fun figuring out how to make 14er peak bagging into difficult backpacking trips, so this project fits right into my world. Mount of the Holy Cross isn't an easy or obvious peak to link up to the Colorado Trail, but it is actually possible to do in theory. The primary reason for this trip was (yet another) recon trip to work on the Slowlans Guide-- Mount of the Holy Cross being somewhat of a bonus peak. That chapter has been posted for a while, and here's somewhat of the behind the scenes of one of the many trips that I use to make the guide possible.

The approach to Holy Cross from the south goes through Seven Sisters Lakes which is an incredible place.

Around where you get off the Holy Cross City 4WD track into the Holy Cross Wilderness. It's good stuff

PT 12741. This is on the Continental Divide above Lonesome Lake (and trail). I thought it a really cool spot but had neglected to remember I had been here 2 years before when I was trying to go from Tennessee Pass to Marshall Pass along the ridge!
