#9 Centennial - Mt Edwards and Grays Peak

23254_27
Hiked up Mt Edwards from the Grays Peak trailhead. Drove the sports car to the trailhead so had to start from the winter trailhead. But I did get a ride up in the morning from a nice Polish hiker. And i could have gotten a ride back down in the afternoon as well from other hikers that offered but decided to walk the extra 3 miles since I was enjoying the nice weather.

The photo is just after leaving the main Grays Peak trail to gain the ridge.

On the ridge now and looking towards Mt Edwards.

I like to stay on the ridge proper as much as possible. And on this ridge you pretty much can except for a few spots.

And sometimes you have to get off the ridge to let the goats go past.

Goat poop trail up here. I always enjoy mountain goats. I only recently learned they are an invasive species to Colorado. But still their eyes make me feel like they have other worldly knowledge.

This rock you have to go around but you can still climb close to its right side, or you can swing wide on the trail but I think staying on ridge after this rock and not following the loose dirt trail below is better for me.

False summit for Mt Edwards. I feel like it had 2 or 3 false summits that got me.

23254_34
Another rock to go around but same as the others you can stay close to its right side and gain ridge again right away.

Mt Edwards summit after 2 and a half hours from the summer trailhead for Grays Peak.

Summit Views looking down at the trailhead

Summit views. Clouds rolled in quick so ate a fast sandwich and started back as I didnt want to be on a wet and windy ridge.

23254_38
Grays Peak is covered in the clouds as I walk back on the ridge going back the same way I came. Had there been hikers on Mt Edwards from Argentine Pass I would have asked to hike back with them if they would drive me back to the winter trailhead I parked my car. But I was the only one on Mt Edwards.

Few more friends to say bye to as I leave goat poop ridge.

Went up Grays Peak since I was so close. It was a tiring for me to do that but glad I did. And it was in cold clouds with gropple rain so a little more interesting.

Back out of the clouds that surrounded Grays Peak and looking back at Mt Edwards as we head back down to the winter Grass Peak trailhead.
