 Slushy day at Mount Bierstadt

My husband and I arrived at about 10:00 am. Looked like most people were on their way out. I know we're supposed to start early due to summer thuderstorms, but we did it anyway. As we started there were almost no clouds. But by the time we got half way up there were serious grey clouds heading our way. It took us 4:26 minutes. We are in great shape at 47 and 52 but it was still slow going at an average pace of 31 min. per mile, due to the slush. I put on microspikes at 1/2 way up and was really glad I did. I had poles too. I needed them for sure and it definetely helped on the way down as well. It was 80% slushy snow and ice, 20% mud and light rain started at 2:30 pm when we got back to our vehicle.
