Beautiful day ... really couldnt have asked for better weather. Sunny and cool, with a light breeze. Made it up the 4WD road from Winfield with no problem (in the Xterra), though Id never do it in a low-clearance vehicle. Took the northwest slope trail that climbed 3,400 feet ... standard route, I assumed.

Started off with a nice and cozy climb up through the forest. At one point there was a clearing that afforded really nice views to the south through west. After treeline, it mellowed out a bit, then it ratcheted up a little more. But overall it was pretty sure and steady. Toward the top it tapered and became a surprisingly small summit. Oh, and no snow at all, anywhere.

During the entire climb, we only passed about ten other people (including a few guys resting with full packs and jackets! I wouldve died from sweating in those things!), but at the summit we met another ten. Good thing was, as usual, the people up there were all really cool. Views from the top were stellar. Peaks (including many other 14ers) were all around -- 360 degrees. Felt like I was in the San Juans.

Really good climb.
