 Belford Oxford

Got to the trailhead just before 6am. Easy road for a 2WD - didn't even need the Subaru. (However, if you are going further west to Winfield for Huron Peak, the road is a lot bumpier.) There were several parking spots left, and it looked like additional parking on the road was available.

Went up Belford via the Northwest Ridge, which is steep but fairly short, relative to the Elkhead Pass route. No snow at all, no spikes needed. I did the Elkhead route on the return - longer, but much flatter and easier on the knees. Plus, it gave me much more insight into what Missouri will take to climb.

The saddle itself between Belford and Oxford is fairly easy, but the drop into the saddle from Belford was pretty steep. I slipped a couple of times, but no serious falls.

Trails are well-marked, never had any trouble route finding. There is water for the first two miles or so on the way up, and even more so when coming back down Elkhead.
