I have waited several years to climb Culebra. So, along with 1 dozen or so other people, I eagerly anticipated this hike. And I was not disappointed. It was well worth the price of admission and the drive to Southern Colorado. The instructions for hiking Culebra were most unusual. Our instructions were to "drive to Four-way, hike to the end of the road, and then spread out, taking care not to follow the person in front of you!". What an opportunity. Select your own path and head for the ridge.

It was a beautiful day and everything about the hike was first-class. The summit ridge was fun, the rock was solid, and once on top the people were great. We even saw three bears at over 13,000 feet!

Dont let the $100 fee stop you from enjoying this climb. It is truly a unique experience...
