Kit and Challenger 11-20-05 via South Colony
Drove up South Colony Friday night and camped about a mile below the lake. Departed South Colony about 6:00am. Skirted Kit Carson and summited Challenger first then on the return hit Kit with some help of another climber. Identifying the correct slot to ascend from the traverse is key. Stayed on the summit for a few pics and bailed due to the weather. By the time we hit the saddle at Humbolt some high clouds covered Crestone Needle. Once on the trail we sprinted for the car and arrived around 2:00 pm. A great day, but everyone was pretty spent since we had just arrived from sea level the night before. Next stop the Sawatch Range.
