They have 12ers in Sawatch? Featuring poor navigation.

OK - I had grand plan to wow the 14er community with very fresh route - hitting Galena as I wrapped around this middle bump (Pk.12160) on my way to complete loop route down the far slope of Pk.12480 back to the Timberline Trail.

Only did the yellow route - will repeat this later to detail the wrong route taken going back down...

Later start combined with signage for Leadville 100 warning of large crowds and 'traffic' had me call off the plan however. But it seems very do-able. If you do it - think of me please.

Looking west - the hypothetical route around the bend in foreground.

19692_05this is the mistake here - I was supposed to keep center cut while heading down. But instead drifted hard left.

19692_06as a result - on this yellow line just above treeline - I dropped into the woods. I even caught the trail - but it was heading upslope and I thought it may be some trail I had not heard of going around the wide shoulder on the 'other side' - west side - of Galena's flank.

Basically, I just had to bust down thru the woods to where that clear cut is for the powerlines there - and then move laterally over towards trail. But it was a little unwelcome nevertheless. And bottom line was Leadville 100 did not impact my day at all! That seems like a ridiculous amount of hiking! This one here was likely about 7.5 miles or so. Not quite 100 but it'll do.
