 Ghosts of the Forest
Part 1 of our "Big Adventure" 2018 has us traveling to the Southern San Juan mountains to climb Summit Peak.
This is a beautiful area of the state that sees few visitors. In fact, this peak is climbed seldom enough that the trail nearby is disappearing.
I called this trip "ghosts of the forest" because we saw a small heard of elk and heard them bugling just after sunrise. It was quite eerie.
I wanted to mention that the trail is very faint and branches off into wildlife trails. This is not easy to follow and I recommend you bring a map and/or GPS device. It wouldn't be hard to get lost.
