"My Side of the Mountain" - alt approach via SW ridge

Before we start -- note to you: I had always looked at that cut in the mountainside of Argentine and assumed that was an old washed out mining road or path. It was actually news to me that that is the route up Argentine!

Took off from the trailhead due South - and fairly quickly topped up above those trees. I noticed people actually heading up the Argentine Pass trail -- only then did it dawn on me that that is a way up....

BUT -- long story short - had my own side of mountain essentially! (I could have come down the Pass - but was even then unsure what the story was and I wanted to hit this little snow patch that some people had been doing some mini-runs on on way up)

note my route! left'ish -- and straight down!

I felt I actually had a better ski run than any of theirs!

This and Squaretop to me form The Link that connects the front range with the high country. One could have a bigger day connecting on to Sq. Top or the one to the north who's name is escaping me!

also -- note that the end of the journey in my green/red route pic -- did not end well! Found myself up on a cliff. Should have cut more back into valley on my way down instead of leaning to the right.

here's a pic you can blow up if you were inclined
