We successfully took my rear-while drive SUV up the four-wheel drive road to the trailhead. We began climbing around 7am, and arrived at the summit at 11am. An ominous-looking cloud was rotating around the summit, so we were anxious to get up there and back down. Upon reaching the summit, we saw that it wasnt too potent, and was only spitting a little bit of snow. Plenty of people on the summit--but amazing views!!!!! You definitely notice that extra 400 feet of elevation gain as youre midway through the switchbacks. We spent about 30 min atop and were back down at the trailhead by 1:30pm. 4 hours up and 2 down. Probably my favorite one yet. The Lakeview campground is a nice campground for those wanting "real" bathrooms although theyre pretty smelly. There are a bunch of areas along the 4-wheel drive road that make nice camping spots for free though.
