We started from the North Crestone Creek Trailhead. We followed the North Crestone Creek trail to the where it crosses the North Fork of the North Crestone Creek at 10850'. We continued up the trail past a couple of switchbacks to a departure point at roughly 11000'. We then climbed to a visible saddle just above treeline (picture #1) to gain the ridgeline Once we gained the ridgeline we climbed toward a prominent rock outcropping Picture 2. To climbers left of the outcropping is an obvious notch we climbed to. From there we traversed a large bowl to a break in the cliff band and then climbed an easy meadow to gain the summit ridge just south of the summit. We climbed the ridge to the summit. For the return we descended an obvious bench just to the east of the summit until it intersected our uptrack. Enjoyed some great autumn colors (Picture 3).

2WD access & Trail Distance?
9/26/2017 10:11am
I wondered if you have any idea how long this hike was, and how is TH access in 2wd? What class is this hike?

I was looking for hikes in this area, since it was closer to home, but it seems like the hikes in this area, like Blanca and Crestone Needle, get really long unless you have a 4WD or specialized vehicle. This hike looks more reasonable in that regard, though.

Really like the 3rd photo!
