 Peak 10 - 4th of July Bowl
Solo skin/ski from the base of the Beaver Run Chair Lift in Breckenridge to the summit of Peak 10 and back. Departed from the parking lot at the Beaver Run resort at 0745; summited at 1115; returned to parking lot at 1230. Approximately 4.5 miles up; the return was a bit longer; a little over 9 miles in total. Total elevation gain was 3,679". Good snow all the way for the most part but the Peak 10 Forest Road is plowed to the top of the Mercury Express lift, so you there are dirt road crossings that interrupt the snow, depending on the route of advance. Above Mercury, it's all good snow. The snow in the upper 4th of July Bowl was chalk; lower down it turned to corn. I saw no evidence of avalanche/slide activity on any of the slopes of Peak 10, Peak 9, or Peak 8. Crystal, Pacific, and Father Dyer all looked good also. The attached photos show current snow coverage and the line down the bowl. A great day and a good workout. I saw 3 other human beings during the trip - there were two skiers in front of me and a solo snowboarder about an hour behind me.

I do not know. The forest service road (Peak 10 Road FR751) was open and I saw a number of vehicles going up and down while I was skinning in the morning. There were several people running on the dirt road as well. As far as whether you can skin at Breckenridge or not, I should think whatever rules apply only apply while the resort is in operation. They have been closed for a while now. Nobody questioned me while I was skinning and later skiing on the resort trails.

Only ABasin currently allows uphill travel in Summit. Breck, Key, and Copper are all closed to Uphill Travel.

But the way I read the rules that are posted for summit county in general, and Breckenridge in particular, is that the uphill travel restrictions are only in effect during ski operations. Once the resorts go dormant, those rules are not in effect. I could be wrong though....

Due to numerous capital projects taking place this spring at Breckenridge Ski Resort, uphill access will not be permitted at the resort past closing day, April 23, 2017. The work being done creates safety concerns for public use.
