Am I correct in assuming that you took this photo on June 19, 2015? I am in Texas, but planning to climb Mt. Elbert in mid–July and wanted to get an idea of how much snow there is.

Just made the hike this past weekend and there wasnt much snow on the trail until near the summit. It wasnt enough for snow shoes. Poles are helpful but I did it without any. I would get there before the sun comes up to find a parking spot on the weekend, very busy 14er.

Like Lone_Star, we are planning a mid-July hike up the mountain. We will be taking the Northeast Ridge Route and want to know how the road to the trailhead is. Is it pretty rutted out? Can we make it in a small car or would a higher clearance van be needed?

Camped on the near the trail head last Thursday 7/2/15. Hiked Mt. Massive. The road has washboard so the dash was definitely making some noise but a car would be fine. No big potholes. Will be going up again this weekend to hike Elbert so I will post road conditions again. Happy Hiking!
