 Loch Vale Snowshoeing in RMNP
From Glacier Gorge Parking Lot
Loch Vale + Mills Lake Spur
~900 ft gained, 7 miles RT.

Not a peak, but I thought people might like to see some pics and info from a recent snowshoeing excursion. Winter can be a good time to see Rocky Mountain National Park when the crowds are greatly reduced. The Bear Lake area still sees a fair amount of traffic on the weekends, but like anywhere in the mountains, the weather varies wildly.

Even if the weather is bad, you are in the trees most of the time and not completely exposed to the wind. I guess the weather dictates what type of excursion you do- if the weather is nice you can climb the ridges, if it's windy stick to the trees.

The lake is really pretty in winter, and I recommend everyone to check it out at least once. You also get a badass view of Longs Peak, Keyboard of the Winds, and Mt. Pagoda from a different vantage in Glacier Gorge.
