Mt Shavano - it's about time
"Yes Mom, I'll try to find someone to hike with."

Another nice January weekend, I shouldn't sit on the couch. Shavano and Tabeguache have been staring me down for years whenever I am hanging in Salida. I have been up Shavano 6 times in the summer (not including two other times to the saddle), but a Winter ascent had eluded me. I had broken trail to treeline several times but those were just conditioning hikes. I figured I would post a "suckers wanted" on 14ers.com and see what would happen (you often get a lot of no-shows on Winter hikes). As it turned out, it was a pretty good group. Only problem was the kids were so fast, old man Yaich was feeling his age.

Blah, blah, blah. On to the pictures.

Hey, it sounds great, I might give it a shot myself in the next few weeks. How is the road access? Can you get to the trailhead by 4Wd?
