North Maroon was awesome. It's actually easier than South Maroon because you don't have to climb through as much loose scree and the route-finding is easier. The gullys are not that steep or loose if you choose to climb on the solid rock and you are already close to the summit once the trail disappears.
The views of Pyramid are awesome the whole time - I gave Pyramid the "I'm coming for you next Saturday" glare
On ascent I followed the route description, but on descent I skipped the upper and just descended the first gully. This was actually well-cairned so I suspect it is an old route or something. I know I was off route because I looked at my GPS. The climbing was more difficult but I avoided some scree so yay!
King Soopers anyone? North Maroon Gully Looking North Looking West Reminds me of the pacific northwest Me and S.Maroon Pyramid
7/21/2013: Longs Peak
Climbed with some Longs Peak 1st timers and my good buddy Philip Met Anton
Longs Peak is like a tetanus shot: you need it every so often so you don't get sick. There are few things in life that can rival the healing antidepressant effects of being in the presence of Longs Peak.
How to still enjoy LP on a July Sunday (aka how to pass people):
---In the trough, go to the left and climb on the class 4 rock.
---Between the trough and the narrows, go to the right or left of the constriction.
---Don't bother with the homestretch, there is an even easier alternative route if you go to the left right after the narrows end.
We met Anton on the summit, it was actually the 3rd time we'd shared Longs Peak together but the 1st time I was able to introduce myself and have a bit of chat. Joel, the guy who filmed Anton's movie, was running with him so it was awesome to meet 2 legends. (Both denied being a legend). Nice to finally meet you Anton!
I climbed with Philip, his friend Marni (spelling) and her friend Eric. The latter 2 who were climbing LP for the first time -- good job guys! Great climbing with you!

Was almost going to attempt N Maroon last week with someone else and then it fell through. Another time...
And I totally agree regarding Longs. Will never get tired of doing it! Am planning a Meeker/Longs loop on Thurs and still need a partner for it as I'm not comfortable doing it alone, so if you need another ”shot” at it from a different angle, let me know!
Loved the line about the ”I'm coming for you stare...” Go get'm! Enjoyed your TR. Thanks for sharing the adventures! PS: I assume that you smoked Anton on the way down!
