Sweet day with a new partner
So this spring I've had the pleasure of meeting some new people. Some of them have been asking me for beta on what I'm seeing in a and around the mountains that I've been visiting. I love sharing beta with people. Joel Paula has been in touch for beta on various routes thru the spring and finally our schedules synched up for a tour. For a first tour with someone this probably is a tougher route than I would do with most people but Joel skied a lot of the tough lines from my book and Ben vouched for him so a plan was hatched.

I left Edgewater at 4:20 and headed up to the hills. Stupid tunnel made me late but we met up at the Forest Service lot in Minturn and headed up to the trailhead. We got a decently early start of 7:30 and made decent time up to the lake. Still not feeling quite right after a week at sea level but feeling better than the day before. We switched to crampons and pulled our axes out for the ascent up the couloir. The climb was fun and steep. It was a very consistent kind of steep and the exit to the ridge was downright sporty over the near vertical snow....
