YNP-Half Dome cables route. This trip report has tons of photos...It was a great, fun hike. Probably the most scenic, fun, hard, but relaxing hike I've ever been on. I hope you guys enjoy!!!

Hauling oneself up those cables on the slick granite looks rough!

I do not remember that much of it. It must have been cloudy then. I do not remember those views at all. I will have to get back there some time. I do remember camping in LYV also.

I typically blow past the TR's that include a link that direct you off 14ers...I guess I figure another step when there are so many TR's that don't require that - but having flown directly over Half Dome recently, I was a bit intrigued so clicked your link - just a genuine blessing all around!

Thank you! KG

Lucky?

Wow, you guys were so lucky to enjoy the Half Dome for yourselves. It makes me wonder if it is because of the permit system.I was there many years ago - before the permit was required. I remember that it was a weekday and pretty early morning, but man, those cables were full with people. From the bottom to the top people were lining up to get up and down at the same time - as a result, there were hikers walking/clinching on the outside of the cables. One of my favorite hike, such a thrill. Seriously, solitude on the Half Dome? How did you do it?

Great job planning it as an overnighter to get to the summit before all of the dayhikers got there. Brings back memories. Thanks for posting. Yosemite is a magical place.
