After climbing Gladstone the previous day our group was down to three. (View that trip here.) We started out at about three in the morning. Partly because we wanted the snow to be solid and partly because we had a seven hour drive home after the hike.
We hit continuous snow at about 11,000 feet. It did require snowshoes, however was solid enough that once we had the snow shoes on it was fairly easy going.
We thing we were able to stay fairly close to the trail until treeline, but it was hard to tell. Once above treeline the snow was so solid I just switched over to crampons.
The ridge up to Fuller was completely clear of snow. The saddle between Fuller was holding a pretty good sized cornice still. Once beyond the saddle the route stays on the left (south) side of the ridge. We had to do a lot of side-hilling in crampons. Very tiring on our legs but there was some sun cupping starting to form in the snow that made it a little easier.
The final pitch up to and including the summit was completely clear of snow. The last gully to get on the ridge though is full of hard snow, tough to sink your ice axe in there.
