 Tabeguache -- via Shavano
Great day on the mountain. Particularly good for a double, since the forecast called for warm and clear in Buena all day.

Easy access to the trailhead, took a Toyota Corolla there no problem. Just use common sense, drive carefully, and you'll be fine.

No snow on the mountains to speak of, and what there was will be gone by within 24 hours of filing this report.

14ers.com route is accurate and helpful as always. Treefalls on the trail have been almost completely cleared, minimal route finding needed, just common sense observation.

Took me five hours to get to the top of Shavano, then an hour and half to get over to Tabeguache. I'm 52 years old, an experienced climber and in good shape, so I think I'm just particularly slow and/or cautious. Two hours back because Shavano is higher, four hours and fifteen minutes to get back to the trailhead. A long, hard double for me, 13 hours on the trail altogether.

One tip that I read elsewhere that I'm glad I followed: No toilet paper in the restroom at the trailhead, be sure to bring your own!
